Announcing International Day of Education

Thursday 24 January 2019

On December 3, 2018, during the 63rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, Resolution 73/25 was adopted proclaiming 24 January the International Day of Education. This decision falls within the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDGs) and recognizes the role of education for peace and development. Indeed, without inclusive and equitable quality education, countries won’t succeed in achieving gender equality (SDG 5) nor will they break the poverty cycle (SDG 1), that is leaving millions of individuals, including a large amount of children and young people, behind. The adoption of this Resolution resonates with the importance given by the Fondation Apprentis d’Auteuil International to education and tailor-made training suited to the difficulties faced by young people, as a driving force for their social integration   and professional success.

In that regard, the project 'Shelter, support and education for street children' undertaken with our local partner in Peru, Qosquo Maki, was developed in accordance with this vision -  this project is mainly based on providing an educational,  vocational training, and integration support.

Other notable international days include the International Day for the Rights of the Child on November 20, and the International Day of Street Children on April 12.
